Wednesday Product Review: L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara

Normally, I love L’Oreal mascaras.  For years I was a big, big fan of their original Voluminous mascara, as well as Voluminous False Fiber LashesVoluminous Million Lashes.  This one, the new L’Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara, however, did not quite meet my expectations for a L’Oreal mascara.\n\nSeveral aspects of the product I did not like right away:  the wand and brush are *very* long, which makes it somewhat difficult to control.  The length of the brush also makes it difficult to reach smaller lashes on the inner and outer corners of my eyes.\n\nThe product doesn’t perform the way I expected–which was to create thicker lashes.  I got length from the product, something I really don’t need from a mascara,  but the thickness was not even close to what I can achieve with Voluminous Million Lashes.  Even when using it to thicken lashes by pressing it into the base, it doesn’t quite get the job done.\n\nIt’s also short on lasting power.  I find that, even when brand new, it starts to break down after about 7 hours of wear, and becomes irritating.  The only reason I can find for the irritation is that it some particles find their way into the eye, so it becomes very uncomfortable to wear for any length of time.\n\nI haven’t tried it with contact lenses, but if it breaks down after 7 hours without contacts, I believe I might expect it to break down sooner with contacts.\n\nI hate to put a L’Oreal mascara in the “underperfomer” category, but Voluminous False Fiber Lashes one did not perform to my satisfaction.  I will however, go back to using Million Lashes, which gives me lash effects on par with major department store brand mascaras, is long-wearing, and easy to remove.
